The 'Stroboscope Switches On....Again!

Download this episode (62 min)
Hello listeners! This is the first new episode I've created since all of my older shows were inadvertently wiped by MyPodcast. No theme to this one, though I did acknowledge the season just past with a Gryphon song. The 'Vinyl Vault' is also a tribute to the late, great Hugh Hopper. I hope to be back with another new one soon. Enjoy!

A Vote For The 'Stroboscope Is A Vote For Fun (re-post)

Download this episode (61 min)
Hello and welcome to the Kaleidophonic Stroboscope! An hour (sometimes a bit longer and sometimes a bit less) of music that I choose to showcase from my collection. The tunes can be anything from progressive rock to modal jazz to art-punk to Indian ragas. I try to make it pretty eclectic...as much as I can, anyway.

I started this podcast in May 2008, mainly to use as a 'demo' for a prospective radio job. I still haven't heard back from the stations who replied to my e-mails (heh heh), but I've continued on with the podcast. It's been fun to create the playlists for the shows and to mess about with Photoshop for the show's banner.

I had 8 shows completed over a 9-month period. Last month, My Podcast upgraded their servers (I think) and unintentionally wiped out all of my shows, except one. I didn't have anything backed-up on our hard-drive, as we had so little memory left on it.

The only one I had left was this episode. I originally intended to create it last November, in time for the U.S. presidential elections, but didn't have time. I opted for the inauguration of Barack Obama--but I missed that deadline as well. It was finally finished at the beginning of February and that's when I posted it. We're upgrading our PC in the next few weeks and once that's done, I'll re-launch the 'Stroboscope with a brand-new episode. Enjoy!

The track-list for this one is:

Intro
Alice Cooper - Elected (from the "Billion Dollar Babies" album - released in 1972)
Parliament - Chocolate City (from the album of the same name - rel. in 1975)
Matching Mole - Starting In The Middle Of The Day, We Can Drink Our Politics Away (from the "little Red Record" album - rel. 1972)
Mick Farren - Trouble Every Day (from the "Vampires Stole My Lunch Money" album - released in 1979)
Stevie Wonder - Big Brother (from the "Talking Book" album - released in 1972)
Super Furry Animals - Presidential Suite (from the "Rings Around The World" album - rel. in 2001)
Bob Marley & The Wailers - Them Belly Full (But We Hungry) (from the "Natty Dread" album - released in 1974)

A Trip To The Vinyl Vault:

Featured LP: The Firesign Theatre - "I Think We're All Bozos On This Bus" (released in 1971)

'Meeting With The President' (excerpt from Side 2)

Cream - Politician ('Top Gear' session - January 1968) (from the "BBC Sessions" album - released in 2002)
The Steve Miller Band - Industrial-Military Complex Hex (from the "Number 5" album - rel. in 1970)
Jurassic 5 - Great Expectations (from the "Quality Control" album - released in 2000)
XTC - The Ballad Of Peter Pumpkinhead (from the "Nonsuch" album - released in 1992)
The Temptations - War (from the "Psychedelic Shack" album - rel. in 1970)
