The Kaleidophonic Stroboscope Switches On - Part 1
(26 downloads)Download this episode (58 min)
I sent a radio show proposal to a few local stations. I had a couple of responses, both asking for a demo--which I didn't have ready. I created this hour-long segment as a taster and then decided to offer it as a podcast as well.
The track-list was based on the one I used in the written proposal (aside from a live Pink Floyd track from Amsterdam in 1969--I ran out of time for that--I'll include it in a future episode). I hope you enjoy the show and I'll try and make this an on-going project.
The track-list is:
Intro.
The Beatles - Strawberry Fields Forever (studio out-take - recorded Nov. 1966)
Schicke, Fuhrs & Frohling - "Sunburst" (from the 'Symphonic Pictures' album - rel. 1976)
Coil - Slur (from the 'Horse Rotorvator' album - rel. 1987)
Boards Of Canada - In A Beautiful Place Out In The Country (from the EP of the same name - rel. 2000)
Caravan - Waterloo Lily (from the album of the same name - rel. 1972)
Klaus Schulze - Some Velvet Phasing (from the 'Blackdance' album - rel. 1974)
Jefferson Airplane - The Fat Angel (recorded live at the Fillmore East - October 1968 - rel. on the 'Bless It's Pointed Little Head' album, 1969)
Danielle Dax - Numb Companions (from the 'Pop-Eyes' album - rel. 1983)
The Incredible String Band - The Half-Remarkable Question (from the 'Wee Tam & The Big Huge' double-album - rel. 1968)
Wire - I Feel Mysterious Today (from the 'Chairs Missing' album - rel. 1978)
...and you get my dulcet tones in between some of the tracks. Thanks for listening!

I'm still getting used to this whole podcasting thing--but I think it's going to be a good run.

Thanks Doc -
It's been sometime that I've needed re-grooving. I guess, like most young men of my age I was just nervous admitting that I had a problem. This podcast was just the escape from reality I needed... You're like the audio equivilant of David Lynch. It's musical escapism of the highest order. Don't change a single thing about this show and I will be back next time.
Yours, an anonymous patient.
Fab gear! Awesome! I'm knocked out! Do more, more, more...

Baxter: BWA-HA-HA-HA! Thanks for the kind words...I won't change the show.
SBear: Thanks, mate! Glad you liked it. Part 2 will follow shortly (it may after the jaunt to Wales, though).
Correction: The Schicke, Fuhrs & Frohling track is actually called "Sundrops", not "Sunburst"..D'Oh!
Now I'll have to do a new tracklisting for the CD! Hahaha!
